A few of the latest updates for TvsT.

    Quote...

    1.) 2015 Foundation File - Jan.2015

    2.) Panther Mission 2 with tech update - Feb.2015

    3.) Panther Mission 3 with tech update - Mar.2015

    4.) Leningrad 1943 Mission 1 with tech update - April.2015

A new map and mission for Leningrad 1943, along with model changes and adjustments to the playable tank's physics that will add and make them more heavy and realistic. Also there are now three Panther missions, along with technical changes to the A.I. models, Panther Ausf. D and the Tiger E1.

How would you compare Zeewolf's Panther to the various models we have in SF?

Post by woofiedog Sat May 02, 2015 8:08 am

I consider each game SF/TvsT as it's own entity and enjoy playing both games. Like reading a book and then seeing a movie production of the same story, each is it's own independent entity. Have to say that SF has just about everything a tank simmer would want from a tank sim, as it has most of the major vehicles used during the Second World War, maps, seasons, objects and other items such map flora and sounds. This is all because it has been updated and developed by a talented group of people from the tank sim community.

But as far as what is new for TvsT for 2015, this would include a new map "Leningrad 1943" and two new Panther missions, overall though ZeeWolf has made some updates to the game itself, which very much improves the running of TvsT and gives it a more smooth and realistic feeling during game play.

    A few Panther screens.

Woofie, I wasn't really asking you to compare both games. I agree with you each has to be assessed on its own merits. They are too dissimilar to be comparable in most respects.

My question had to do with the feel of the Panther in each game. Do you feel that the panther in SF need some overhaul or do you feel that they are comparable to Zeewolf's model in terms of realism and immersion?

Could you play one of the missions and make a vid? I'd be curious to see how the gameplay is with the latest updates. That is if you can or want!

    Post by 33lima Sat May 02, 2015 10:35 pm

    This is from May 2014:

One of the Panthers seems to act as the player's Tiger's 'wingman'. I don't know if it has been improved since that video, but the AI still looks really bad. Several vehicles seem to get stuck together, one of the Panthers dashes ahead on its own and the Soviet tanks bunch up horribly. Some nice features but still the same old T-34 -vs- Tiger, at heart, it seems, with some very good aspects and some very bad ones.

Thanks for the vid Lima33. I still have the Tigers Shake Kurtenki mission modified by ZW back in 2010/2011 when I was a member for one year. It seems to have changed quite a bit since.

The AI is TvsT has always been horrible. One of the reasons I left the game .My theory is that the game , unlike SF, was primarily intended to be an MP one. Little thought was given to the SP and the AI which were mere practice to prepare the player for MP... When Lighthouse Interactive went belly up  the developers promptly abandoned the game  and no progress was made on the SP until ZW came around.

From what I see no reason to join again. The MP or Co-op could be interesting but ZW is absolutely not interested in it.

Could you play one of the missions and make a vid? I'd be curious to see how the game play is with the latest updates.

I do not have a program for making a video clip, only FRAPS which I can only make a very short 30 sec video.

ZeeWolf has been working on the feel of the weight and sounds of the Panther tank and Tiger tank. And have to say the Panther can move along at a realistic speed once it does gets going on the battlefield.

One of the first items that really has changed is that the game play is free of all the bugs that came with the original TvsT. The missions I ran the other day were totally bug free and the game does not bog down from low frame rates as it did before, although this was not really a problem for my present computer. Overall detail and playability of the game has been sharpened and improved.

These last three updates were important as they changed and updated the foundation of the game to a more playable TvsT. And you can not leave out the new Leningrad 1943 map, as ZeeWolf has stated he will be concentrating future updates for this time period and area of the war.

As far as making any changes to the Panther models in SF, I would have to say that these are some of the best modeled vehicles of SF and I would give them easily a 9 or 10 rating out of a 1-10 rating score. They are a fighting machine and can go up against any of the allied tanks whether Soviet, British or American with a high degree of wining the shootout. So I can not see a need for a change. Laughing

Woofie do you have an ATI or Nvidia gpu? Either way do you know that you can make vids by installing Geforce experience and using Shadow Play inside it or for ATI installing Raptr and using the recording program which is included ? That's how I made my 3 SF you tube videos and I made some more of other games.

Thanks for the comments on the Panther. I like the models we have in SF and I agree that they are excellent fighting machine. My fav. tank in fact.

Basically I don't think you can still find legit copies of it. Only pirated ones. I still have a legit copy on dvd. I'll see if I can upload it to my mediashare account. Not sure if I can because |I have the free account.

BTW 33 Lima even with an Nvidia gpu you can still use Raptr. It's not ATI exclusive. I personally find their video capture system more user-friendly than Shadowplay.

    Thanks for the quick reply.
Won't do torrents with a prescribed downloader, I only have one pc at this moment -trying to recover the other machine that normally would be used for this task.

Theres a disc on the uk ebay for years at $100+, with no guarantees, might be bait/scam. I'm not that desperate as i have look'd for years, kibda a part-time adventure!

It would be great if Gamersgate could pick up the game and have a download link for TvsT, instead of the download that is available now for those of you that do not have a DVD copy.

Honestly I think TvsT is going nowhere. I 've got a feeling that Zeewolf is being worn down by a task which is way too much for a single guy...Hope I am wrong.

    If I understand this right...

    http://www.tanksimzw.com/DemoPage.htm

...the demo is stock T-34 vs Tiger, but with one stock Tiger mission, to which Zeewolf's updates can be applied, including the freebies, rather than a demo of Project Zeewolf. Still, it will be a very useful intro to the sim, for anyone who hasn't got it. Free, so definitely worth getting so you can check out the stuff it does so well (and see the rest, too!).

Have the new "T34vsTiger Free Demo" and just need a fresh setup to give it a run. But at this time, have added a new external hard drive to my rig and for the last couple of days have been rearranging folders and files on my old external hard drives and swapping over some files to the new external HD.

Will be done soon enough and as soon as I can setup and run the T34vsTiger Free Demo, will post here about how things go. But for now here is the "Read Me" from the T34vsTiger Free Demo.  Smile

Quote... This file is 307MB. One reason for the size is because it comes with MS DirectX9C setup and installation.

Win 10 users install as Administrator, then set compatibility for *.exe to Win-XP.
