Many people here are experts in Graviteam games so you have a good benchmark for comparisons and evaluation of other tank games. I wonder how is Tank Crew measuring up to the other solid WW2 tank simulators like SF1942 and other titles by the other developers?

Re: What is your opinion about TC?
For me, I think the graphics are very good, especially the Tanks (so they should be). The landscape is not so good. Buildings are great, but I am not too impressed with the bushes and trees. Unlike SF1942, you tend to bounce off trees rather than run them over. Apparently some form of Infantry is planned, but it is unlikely they will be anything like SF1942 where you get them to mount vehicles and they automatically jump off if the vehicle comes under fire. Nor is it likely that the Infantry will have any bearing on the battle, instead just eye candy running around not achieving anything whilst visible for immersion only. I have played the Graviteam games a lot and the AI in TC is very poor by comparison. You can begin firing at AAA or tanks and they do not start to immediately look for you. I took out a T34 from the side and the rest of the Platoon just kept going on and I wiped them out. There was no stopping and turning to my facing to give me the thicker armour to contend with, whilst they searched for me and return fire. This did not happen.
It is still in early access and (I hope) there is a long way to go in it's development. They have recently gone onto the official forums asking for people to submit skins, missions and campaigns which if they add them to the game as official content will be paid for. So clearly there is a lot in the works. I would say that, if they do not try to make the game like a modern SF1942 with improvements in gameplay, then TC is going to fail.

Re: What is your opinion about TC?
Thank you for your TC evaluation. After watching several gameplay videos my take is similar: high on graphics but not gameplay or AI. Most of the engagements are pretty much long drive to contact and then a few minutes of shooting madness. I guess this could be a realistic and true depiction of what was tank battles in WW2, but that aspect may not be helping gameplay.

Re: What is your opinion about TC?
So I saw that Tank Crew was off 50 % and I decided to go ahead and purchase last week.
My first impressions:
The Positive:
- Huge maps which can be combined with others from IL2 aircraft modules you already own or may p[purchase.
- immersive shot and engine sounds
- quick battle editor
- good choice of single missions and the possibility of playing in multiplayers mode.
- community modding is possible
- the game is well supported and players can expect improvements and expansions in the future
The Cons"
- Graphics are actually mediocre for such a recent title and look dated. The damage model and textures are often subpar
- battle immersion is lacking and the game feels lifeless especially compared with Steel Fury , Arma II and III WW2 mods or even IFL 1944
- UI and key mapping are clunky and not intuitive and require a lot of time to get accustomed to
- Lack of infantry makes missions less exciting
- No mission editor
- Limited number of tanks and missions currently available
The verdict: the game is worth purchasing and playing if you are a WW2 tank simulation addict or aficionado. However I recommend not buying at the regular price of USD 89.99 which in my opinion is way too much for what they are offerign. At half the price which is what I paid is a a fair one.

USD 89.99!! That's well outside the norm of 59.99 for new AAA titles. Game inflation.

Re: What is your opinion about TC?
Precisely and in my opinion it lacks some of the qualities of an AAA title. It's more like an AA one.
USD $ 39.99 - which is what I paid - is a fair price.

For me in this game only the battles with planes I like I have 632 hours played, of which 1 with tanks Steel Fury (Iron Task Mod) for me it is the best tank simulator in the world

Re: What is your opinion about TC?
As imperfect as Steel Fury is, I have to agree that it is currently the best WW2 tank simulator available. Panzer Elite for all its qualities does not match it in my opinion.
Tank Crew can be modded through and if the Russian company developing it , Studio 1 C, seems willing to allow fans to make mods. The game can be vastly improved but they will have to continue improving the damage model, the AI is like the one in TvT totally brain dead. One positive thing about IL2 TC is that you can use the other maps min the IL2 series, Stalingrad, Bodenplatte etc to make missions and play them on those maps. Studio 1C seems serious about supporting the game and making expansions and this is good.
However knowing Russians attitude towards client service; you buy our product it's your duty and you have to serve us rather than we serving our cllients makes me a bit pessimistic.
I would argue that if you want to experience good WW2 battles in a more dynamic and modern setting than SF and MP added try Hell Let Loose and Post Scriptum are the 2 best go to. Watch Youtube vids of their tank battles.

LOL, I'll second that about both Russian customer service and Hell Let Loose. It's great fun being in a tank crew and coordinating with the infantry to assault an enemy position.

Re: What is your opinion about TC?
Don't get me wrong , Tank Crew has potential. I would wish Graviteam could work with Studio 1C to make this sim what the next gen Steel Fury would have been had Graviteam not been screwed out of their money by Discus 'dishonesty and Lighthouse going bankrupt and them turning sour on the project as a result.

Re: What is your opinion about TC?
The way I see it SF2 has a few rather minor handicaps preventing larger popularity among gamers.
One is unintuitive and hard to learn UI. Second, that dim and dark ambience that makes it very hard to see far objects through the optics. And finally, rather sketchy particle effects in terms of explosions, armour penetrations, smoke and dust.
It is after all more than 10 yrs old title, but otherwise is really great!

Re: What is your opinion about TC?
Would love to see Graviteam release any type of sequel to Steel Fury. Even if that's done through Sabow. Have played IL2 with the the free tanks and it was ok but there was no battlefield immersion like SF has so after a while I found it a bit tiresome. Tank Crew I imagine would be better. What a shame Graviteam don't follow up on SF in some way. They might be surprised how well their sequel/add on would go.

Re: What is your opinion about TC?
TC is a good step to the future. I wish it would have more adequate AI and real destructed tanks instead of the oldy, goody Playstation One models.
As for status of the Graviteam games we may see only tactics games. BUT sooner or later they will come back to the roots - SF! It goes without saying!

Re: What is your opinion about TC?
Yeah good luck with that. There are 2 serves and it's very difficult to join as an individual player.
|Somebody mention and the UI but it's even worse in TC and the Arma games are also out there when it comes to requiring a diploma in physics to figure out all the various keys and the lack of a simple UI.
