Nine prototypes had been made before AK-47 released.

According to the article the AK 47 is not a by-product of the StG 44 as I always believed.... I am happy to have bene corrected and give Kalashnikov his due!

I still have a doubts abt. Kalashnikov authority. According to his memories he didn't has a high education. All knowledge of him was a book abt. SMG weapons. When he read this book he created AK-47. Kalashnikov was a "komsorg" not a constructor. He was a komsomol leader on the factory (somekind "hitlerugend organization"). Komsomol(Komunistichesky soyuz molodezhi - All-Union Leninist Young Communist League) it is a young reserve of the Communist party.

I agree with you I am not entirely convinced that Kalashnikov is the only or the real inventor but it's clear from the research that the Soviets came up with their ARs by themselves, independently, without copying the Germans but leading their own efforts.

Well it's possible. I also was convinced that the AK 47 was inspired by the SG 44 but all articles I have read about it definitely seem to indicate that Kalashnikov came to his idea independently. Unless there's a smoking gun somewhere showing conclusively that he copied the SG 44 then I will give him the benefit of the doubt.

Well I'm sure it was "inspired" by the StG 44. Nothing happens in a vacuum. Almost all technological advances are built on what came before.

The Soviet designers were certainly aware of the StG 44 and probably examined it closely and drew ideas or lessons from the good and bad points of the design.
