May be they should try focussing on the victim of their Soviet gulags instead or on Putin's current repression?

I fear Europe is turning towards accommodation with Russia. Most European leaders would rather forget sanctions for bad behavior and start cooperating. Coupling that with Mr. Trump's statements on NATO and his admiration of Putin small countries on the margins such as Ukraine, Moldavia etc may be in for dark days.

I think you will see a different view of the Russian Bear by Mr. Trump in the days ahead, especially if he picks a conservative like Romney to be Secretary of State. Remember, he is an amateur at governing, but he learns quickly, and so far has appointed pretty solid conservatives. And Trump may or may not have NATO countries pay more for defense.....we'll see...

Europe is, I believe, heavily dependent on Russia for gas, right? Makes sense that they will do little or nothing to keep the Bear at bay, as usual.
