Didn't play this a lot, basically an FPS with a tank:
'Rommel's Revenge', in glorious monochrome, was my first tank game, about 1981. 'YOU HAVE BEEN ZAPPED!', loved that stuff, I mean, how many tanksims/games have an optional volcano?!:
Next one after that was probably Panzer Commander, which sort of spoiled me for tank games (as opposed to tanksims) after that.
Armored Fist 2 & 3 were a bit 'gamey' so maybe they count here. Plus, AF2 had training missions voiced over by a Gunnery Sgt Hartman sound alike...and some really funky music...
Lockie there's another Panzer Elite Action game called Fields of Glory. My 2 sons used to pay these 2 tank games when they were 5 and 6 years old with delight.
You have to include Battlefield 1942 although technically it's an fps there's still a good tank component to it. Kind of fun too.
I heard of Tiger Hunt but never had the game . Played the others mentioned by Lima33. I have Steel Beasts it's the ultimate tank sim but not a WW2 one.
I played Iron Front Liberation 1944 which is derived from the Arma 2 game and engine. Not properly a tank game but rather a combined arms simulator. Immersing but a bit buggy and with Arma's (BI)very complex user interface.
I also have the i44 WW2 mod made by Murkz and other which a WW2 mod for Arma 2 OA. Very good too.But the tanks while very modelled and with excellent sounds the physics and sub par compared to SF and the ballistics too.
My mini review: I played it in beta. Interesting game of modern tanks 1950s and 60s to present and other armored vehicles. Simplified controls, definitely feels less realistic than SABOT BOW or Kharkov, 1942 but not completely arcade like. No infantry, seems a bit bare bones.
Yeah I have the demos and Ima plannign on buying the game but only when it comes to Epic store. I don't do Steam.
As Tanker said it's semi realistic although I wouldn't call it arcade. It's made by a single guy with the occasional help of others which is quite impressive . Currently one sinlge player but multiplayers is planned for the future. Worth the price in my opinion.
The plan by the developer is to add dinfantry and expand the number an drange of armoured vehicles. He also wants eventually to add guns/artillery and possibly tunr it into a combined arms sim . But it might take time but he is genuinely committed . It's an laternative to SABOW because at leats ti's supported and it's way cheaper than Steel Beasts.
Merry Christmas to everybody! For Ukrainians it's going to be a bleak and cold Xmas unfortunately. But next year will be the year they gain their freedom, defeat the Russians and win a decisive victory.
No this is a Japanese made game for PS2 PlayStation. I bought it for my sons in 2008 when I bought them a PS2. The game was not made by Graviteam. In played that game and it was OK but replayability was limited.
