I was sorting some Panther photos and came across this photo. Could this be a photo of a real Panther F?

Re: Panther Tank??
Look at the wheels. Pretty sure it's a Tiger II.woofiedog wrote:I was sorting some Panther photos and came across this photo. Could this be a photo of a real Panther F?

Re: Panther Tank??
According to the rumors there were only two Panther F built. Both had the hull from Panther G. Speaking frankly they were not Panther F, coz had only original turret.

Technopiper... After looking at it now, you right, it's a Tiger II that is getting a new paint job out in the field.
Notice that they are using a spray gun and not a brush.

Yes, the British had one and another one that still survives is in the states.
Quote... Some reports state that several hulls were actually finished in the final days of war by Daimler-Benz in Berlin and (with Ausf.G turrets) actually fought between 20.4. and 23.4.1945 with II./Panzer-Regiment 2, fighting the Soviets near the Daimler Benz factory.
Two turret prototypes were captured, one was taken to the USA after the war and one was taken to Great Britain, where it was used for target practice (its remains are in Bovington today).
Here is a photo of one of the captured Panther F's.

Re: Panther Tank??
An article on the Panther II build.
Quote... The suspension of the Panther II shared a lot of similarities with the Tiger II.
