"We used to watch the freight train. We knew the fireman and the breakman...and the conductor, my mother used to launder for him. They'd let us ride in the engine...put us in one of the coaches while they were backing up and changing...that was how I got my first train ride."

Not to forget the unforgettable Midnight Train to Georgia by Gladys Knight and the Pips.

and the classic Trans Europe Express by German electronic group Kraftwerk:

There's also the California rock band Train. They're pretty hippy and I love their songs! Anybody on the forum from California?

Bout a mile off old mill road
    in that spot nobody knows
park the truck and we take off running
hurry up girl, I hear it coming
got a moon and a billion stars
sound of steel and old box cars
the thought of you is driving me insane
come on baby lets go listen to the night train

Let's go listen to the night train

A few more tunes of the trains... having a bit of a snow storm and the moment we have about 2 feet of snow piled up. So guess it's time to man the shovels!  Rolling Eyes

A train from the past, the Central Massachusetts Railroad locomotive coming into one of the Rutland, Massachusetts stations. The rail bed is now the Mass Central Rail-Trail, which is opened to cross-country skiers, bicyclists, hikers and joggers and has about 25 miles of trail.

I ain't gonna work on the railroad
I ain't gonna work on the farm
Lay down the shack 'til the mail train comes back
And I'll roll in my sweet baby's arms

Roll in my sweet baby's arms
Roll in my sweet baby's arms
Lay around the shack 'til the mail train comes back
And I'll roll in my sweet baby's arms
