I still have that old game (2004) which is actually a great tank simulator, a worthy predecessor to Steel Fury and SABoW. Known as Balkans on Fire in Europe I think it was launched as Iron Warriors on the US market. I installed it on my laptop and it works wonderfully with Windows 10.Thanks to a the config file in game I was able to max out resolution to my laptop native value 1920 X 1080 even though the in game video menu only allows a maximum of 1280 X 1050. I am able to max out everything in AA  & AF and the game plays smoothly and beautifully. I downloaded many user made missions that can be found on the tanksim.org.ru webpage and it's delight to play it. I highly recommend it. You can buy it for cheap on Steam. I bought mine back in 2006.

If you look at the credit you will see many familiar names of those who would go on founding Graviteam 3 years later. At the time they were working for IDDK or Crazy House .

There are some user made missions for IW or BoF for those that are still interested in the game.  Also the Battlefront community forum has information concerning the game and about new missions.  Smile

lockie... suppose "Balkans" has smth. special

Have had IW since it was released over here and still shakeout the cobweb's and still keep a updated copy on my computer and fire it up every so often. Easy to learn/relearn the controls and it runs fairly well even with W7.

I don't know how special the game is, but Iron Warrior/Balkans On Fire is sort of like my old 77 Pontiac LeMans Sport Coupe that I had many years ago and very much wish I still had now. Smile

There's a charm to it. Plus it's not a bad game and I'd say it's a remote ancestor of SABoW and you can see where Graviteam used some of the features to make SABoW what it was. As well there are about 30 user made missions you can download from tanksim.org.ru.

I think IW is quite a good tanksim, quite limited in scope and I disliked the T-34 with the .50 Cal perched rather high and perpendicularly on the turret, especially as I wanted to get straight to the T-72. But the storyline-based campaign is quite well done. Still, I now much prefer SABOW for my post-WW2 tanking.

My equivalent of Woofiedog's Pontiac in tanksim terms would have to be M1 Tank Platoon II; but I digress...

For those who are interested a guy named Gastello made a mod for T72 Balkans on Fire. He upgraded the graphics, the lighting, the optics and many other improvements.
