missions - Missions for SABOW Empty Missions for SABOW

Post by lockie Tue Mar 31, 2015 7:01 pm

I've a question how to organize mission in SABOW? AFAIK, there are no missions at all. This is the main feature of the game and developers always point it out. But the question - what the game has instead mission? I mean how to make the victory or fail? In SF there are triggers, which responsible for the vic/fail, but what does SABOW? I know there are "quick battles", but its for the personal use only and there is still a puzzle how to share this "kinda mission" with other users?
Coz as my point the game has a life unil it has a missions.
I.e. SF has a missions and is still alive. SABOW doesn't has a missions and still try to be alive, thanks to developers.

Finally, I've managed to get user manual of Sabow. It was in the new patch April. I've d/l it and was surprised with a very weird extension gt2extension?
Luckily, it could be opened with winrar.
According to readme, there will be single(!) missions.
    ...
    31) Added a single mission explains the principle of a smoke shield order.
    32) Added a single mission explains the use of active defense mode.

As my point, that's a good decision to get a casual players for the game.
    So, here we're: 01_tank_manual

    That's funny Smile
There is no single missions in the game, player creates his own game which dramatically increases replayability.
    Suppose, Manual should be updated.

I've read Manual and have not found any mentions abt. how to make "single mission". Obviously user are not allowed (for some reasons) to make a single mission. He can do only his own game which dramatically increases replayability.
Anyway, it's a good feature inspite it's none availability for user. Who knows, may be after next 4 years user will be allowed to do that or may be not.

Smile

Very Happy

Smile
Smile

I think that SABOW has the same set of tools to create missions and maps/'polygons' as Steel Fury. Following the link here http://graviteam.com/forum/index.php?topic=11865.0, I have downloaded and installed them and they look to be very similar to SF, though I have not tried to use them at all.

So it may be possible to create mssions, or campaigns made from a set of scripted missions, for SABOW. And after one of the recent updates, the main menu now has a menu option for 'Missions', which is currently where you access the single and training missions which Graviteam have added over the last couple of months (before that, there was just some extra icons on the main menu screen; now there is this menu option, as well) and is probably how you would access user-made missions, too.

This is a good beginning. But now the bottleneck is playable vehicle too little. If more mod, especially the WW2 mod, it would be great.

According to Graviteam's Facebook post on 26 April, their plan for SABOW is:

"Current Steel Armor Blaze of War development plan:

    1) Add the remaining features
    2) Polish the game mechanics
    3) Add some instant action/training missions with new features
    4) Add features for vehicles that will be in DLCs
    5) Make a few DLCs"

So far, the updates have been delivering 1, 2 & 3. So hopefully, more AFVs and theatres will be coming before too much longer. I think they probably realise that WW2 would be a good move, especially as some GT:OS content can probably be ported to SABOW.

I've checked out new tools and there are no any tools to make a single mission. It is the same weird and incredibly hard way(DOS programs from the last century) to create "his own game which ...".
Though, developers makes missions by erself and as they think it's quite enough for the beginners. Anyway, it's better than nothing.
Also, I'd like to note the game won't be success until developers add adequate tools (editor with GUI) to user to provide a personal missions as user wants. But may be there was marketing poll, where users confessed they didn't need polygon/mission editor.

As a better than SFK tank simulation game (official statement), SABOW has a worse than SFK editor. I think the official did not want to do more content themselves, and do not want players to do MOD.

They have already done some or all of 1, 2 and 3. So maybe 4 and 5 are not too far away. As SABOW now uses the GT:OS engine, I would expect there to be WW2 DLC. I would hope for some WW2, and some Cold War, as with GT:OS.

It will need a lot, for SABOW to overtake SF as a great WW2 tanksim. And even if that happens, SF will still be a great WW2 tanksim.

And if there is one thing better than having a great WW2 tanksim, it is having TWO great WW2 tanksims. Thre is room for both SABOW and SF in WW2.

The Basra DLC seems to be the end of the road for SABOW. I didn't get it - it's cheap but there's too much water, not enough content for me. Graviteam seem to be concentrating everything on their GT wargame series - it's just a pity they don't introduce playable tanks into that.
